The Colts claimed former center, A.Q. Shipley, off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens today. Shipley was originally signed by the Colts in January of 2012 and started 5 games for the team, but was traded to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2014 conditional 7th round pick in the 2013 offseason. He started 9 games for the Ravens last season, mostly at guard.
Originally a 7th round pick out of Penn State of the Steelers in 2009, Shipley demonstrated cohesion with starting quarterback Andrew Luck during his short time as a Colt and played considerably well, filling in for then injured starter Samson Satele.
In a corresponding move, the team released back-up center, Thomas Austin, in order to make room on the 53-man roster.
