12:29: ILB Kelvin Sheppard has been released per ProFootballTalk
1:43: Safety Dewey McDonald has been released per Stephen Holder
UPDATE: Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star has announced that the team has released Safety Dewey McDonald
-Dewey McDonald was an undrafted free agent out of California (PA) and was regarded as a potential small school sleeper in making the team for the Colts. He finished the preseason with 7 tackles in 3 games, but was unable to surpass either Sergio Brown or Colt Anderson as the back-up safeties. With the practice squad expanding to 10 players in 2014, he may be a prime candidate for stashing for the Colts if he can pass through waivers.
4:00: The Colts also made the following cuts:
Update: No real surprises here except for 6th round pick, ILB Andrew Jackson, who was on the roster bubble and didn’t make the cut, even with Kelvin Sheppard’s release. A lot of Colts’ fans were also rooting for TE Erik Swoope (converted basketball Miami player), but he may be a practice squad candidate worth stashing. Undrafted free agent, CB Marcus Burley, was traded to the Seahawks for a 6th round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
