Colts’ Starting Center Khaled Holmes left early in the 1st Quarter with an ankle injury against the Jets and did not return.

After suffering an ankle injury in Thursday night’s preseason opener, Khaled Holmes could miss “multiple weeks”. It’s a significant blow to a Colts’ interior offensive line that already lost OG Donald Thomas for the season. While Holmes may be ready for the Week 1 opener, he has very little experience under his belt, and little to no preseason action will only highlight this concern.

His replacement, undrafted free agent, Jonotthan Harrison struggled a bit as his replacement against the Jets, as he had two high snaps. It’ll be interesting to see whether the Colts will look at adding veteran depth because right now there’s little to no starting experience in the inside of their line outside OG Hugh Thornton’s 12 career starts. Holmes, the aforementioned Harrison, and the other projected starting guard, Rookie Jack Mewhort, have 0 career starts among them. It’s a thin group that really can’t afford to get much thinner.
