The Indianapolis Colts today signed three free agents: center Thomas Austin, guard Marcus Hall and wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson. The team also waived guard Chad Anderson, waived-injured outside linebacker Daniel Adongo and defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton and waived cornerback Brandon Burton from Injured Reserve with an injury settlement. If Adongo and Pendleton clear waivers, they will revert to the Colts Injured Reserve list.
With injuries to Center Khaled Holmes (sprained ankle) and Offensive Tackle Ulrick John (broken ankle), the Colts were in desperate need of active bodies for their offensive line. Thomas Austin and Marcus Hall were necessary additions for depth purposes going forward in preseason.
It’s a shame to see Daniel Adongo injured with a shoulder/arm injury, as he had apparently made great strides in his transition from rugby to professional football. The Colts will likely try to sneak him back on to Injured Reserve if he clears waivers. It’s unclear what the future holds for Adongo, a considerable fan favorite of ColtsNation given his unique background and humble beginnings. While he won’t see any playing time this season given the injury, it will be another year for him to learn and observe the intricacies of the game. However, his 3rd season will likely now be a make or break year for his future professional football career.
