According to IndyStar’s Mike Wells, Reggie Wayne has been cleared to practice. As you may recall, Reggie Wayne tore his ACL on a fluke play in Week 7 against the Broncos. It’s a key development for the Colts, as it will make the team’s receiving corps that much stronger if he can return to full strength. Without him, T.Y. Hilton and Hakeem Nicks are bumped up a peg in the pecking order, but with him, you have a trio of 3 proven and talented wideouts. It will certainly make QB Andrew Luck’s life that much easier having his veteran wideout back in the fold.
Per Wells, Colts’ Running Back Vick Ballard has also passed his physical and has been cleared to practice. As you recall, Ballard tore his ACL in practice before Week 2 of last season. This was following an impressive rookie season in which he had 211 carries for 814 yards and 2 TD’s. While the Colts will likely take it a bit easy on him early in training camp, there’s no question this is positive news for the state of the Colts’ running back position. While he likely won’t be the starter, he will battle both Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw for reps.
